Day 1 - Depart the United States to Munich.
Naturally, meals will be served and optional inflight
entertainment will be offered.
Day 2 - Welcome to Munich, capital of Bavaria,
nestled near the Austrian border in the foothills
of the German Alps. After checking into your
hotel, your certified Euro-American guide leads
you through the cobblestone streets of modern
Germany's most charming town, allowing you
to sample Munich's unique shops.
Day 3 - After breakfast, you
cross into Austria and travel to nearby Salzburg,
a city designed like a fairy tale, with horsedrawn
carriages and Hohensalzberg Castle brooding from
the height above the city. Salzburg was the home
of Mozart, and more recently, the Trapp Family
of the Sound of Music fame. An authentic Austrian
dinner before your late evening return to Munich
caps a day of sightseeing.
Day 4 - Your morning adventure
takes you to the Deutsche Museum, Germany's Smithsonian,
with unique displays of ancient Viking ships,
submarines, and old airplanes. You will be provided
free time during the afternoon. You may wish to
visit Dachau*, a preserved memorial to The Holocaust
and the darkest days of World War II.
Day 5 - Your day begins with
a visit to the colorful Bavarian village of Innsbruck,
twice host to the winter Olympics. Your tour includes
a stroll along Maria Teresa Strass past its famous
shops, for a stop at The Golden Dachel. Following
an authentic Bavarian dinner, you return to Munich
for the night.
Day 6 - Some of Europe's most
spectacular scenery will glide past your window
as the train carries you past glistening lakes
and ice capped peaks high into the Swiss Alps.
After arriving in Lucerne, your evening begins
with dinner and continues with a stroll through
this peaceful Swiss city.
Day 7 - A walking tour, led by
your tour director, takes you to such sites as
the Lion Monument, the glacier garden*, and the
city's historic cathedral. Use your free time
in the afternoon to sample some famous Swiss chocolate
or you may opt for a cruise on Lake Lucerne or
a visit to the city's famed Transportation Museum.
Day 8 - Today delivers your alpine
adventure. You may opt to visit Mt. Titlis, central
Switzerland's highest peak with year-round snow.
Upon your return to Lucerne, you may wish to linger
over a traditional Swiss Fondue dinner or visit
a local folklore show.
Day 9 - Travel to Zurich to connect
with a flight home to the United States, taking
along fond memories of your incredible journey.
