Plus Amsterdam
Day 7
- From Paris the morning train carries you to
Amsterdam, a 7oo year-old city of canals, ornate
bridges, superb architecture, and fine Art. The
Riijk's Museum*, Anne Frank's House*, Rembrandt's
Home*, and the flower market are the highlights
available to visit with your tour director in
the afternoon.
Day 8 - What better way to see a city of
canals and bridges than by boat. Cruise
past some of Amsterdam's great 17th
century mansions, built during Holland's
Golden Age when Dutch businessmen
dominated global commerce.
Some of these houses are restaurants
and some are museums. After the
cruise, visit a master diamond-cutter's
workshop.
Day 9 - Morning takes you into
the Dutch countryside, past windmills and tulip
farms to the Zaanse Schans Museum Village. A working
Dutch village frozen in time, the citizens here
make cheese and clogs in the old way. Naturally,
time will be allotted for last minute shopping
and sightseeing.
Day 10 - Depart Amsterdam for your
home.
Plus rome
Day 7 - After sleeping on your train
from Paris, discover Rome in the morning.
Your explorations begin from your
hotel with a walking tour led by your
local tour director through the streets of
Europe's most ancient and romantic
city.
Day 8 - Your morning begins with
a city tour, led by a local certified guide, to
such landmarks as the Colosseum, Pantheon, Roman
Forum, and the Piazza Navona. Time in the afternoon
to shop or people watch from a table at a sidewalk
cafe.
Day 9 - Following breakfast,
a visit to Vatican City to view the ineffable
beauty of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel and the
collection of the Vatican Museum*. An afternoon
option takes you via the Appian Way to visit the
Catacombs.
Day 10 - Depart Rome for your home.
Plus Madrid
Day 7 - Upon arrival to Madrid, enjoy
a morning tour of the city, visiting landmarks
such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Espana, Cibeles
Fountain and Plaza Major. In the afternoon, time
for shopping, resting or personal exploration.
Day 8 - Madrid, the city that
in the 16th century was the richest and most powerful
capital in Europe, is awaiting your visit. The
morning is devoted to the Prado Museum. Spend
the afternoon with your tour guide exploring "Old
Madrid" with such gems as the Puerta del
Sol.
Day 9 - After breakfast, we will
visit nearby Toledo, a city so important to Spain's
history it is preserved as a national monument.
Within the walls of Toledo are some of the finest
examples of gothic cathedral architecture in Europe,
including the Church of Santo Tome. Other points
of interest include El Esorial, the Valley of
the Fallen, and the home of El Greco, one of Spain's
greatest artists.
Plus Lucerne
Day 7
- Some of Europe's most spectacular scenery will
glide past your window as the train carries you
east from Paris, past glistening lakes and ice
capped peaks, into the Swiss Alps. After arriving
in Lucerne, your afternoon begins with lunch and
continues with a stroll through this peaceful
Swiss city.
Day 8 - A walking tour, led by your
tour director, takes you to such sites
as the Lion Monument, the Chapel
Bridge, and the city's historic cathedral.
Use your free time in the afternoon
to sample some famous Swiss
chocolate. Or you may opt for a cruise
on Lake Lucerne or a visit to the city's
famed Transportation Museum.
Day 9 - Today delivers your Alpine
adventure. You may opt to visit Mt.
Titlis, central Switzerland's highest
peak with year-round snow. Upon
your return to Lucerne, you may linger
over a traditional Swiss Fondue dinner
or visit a local folklore show.
Day 10 - Travel to Zurich to connect
with your flight home.
