Day 1
- Depart the United States from your departure
city for an overnight flight to Prague. Naturally,
optional inflight entertainment will be offered
and meals will be served.
Days 2-3 - Prague is the largest
city and the capital of the Czech Republic, part
of the former Czechoslovakia. A German poet wrote,
"If the world were a crown, Prague would be her
prettiest gem". Our panoramic sightseeing tour
will include such sites as the courtyard and the
magnificent Cathedral of St. Vitus, Old Town Square,
Wenacaslas Square, the University of Prague, the
Charles University and the Jewish Quarter, home
of Europe's oldest synagogue. Prague is set against
a backdrop of centuries of architectural style
with many exquisite buildings of Gothic and Baroque
design.
Days 4-5 - Depart Prague and
travel to Budapest, Hungary. You will traverse
the lush Hungarian countryside to arrive in Budapest
- a city that is an echo of a thousand years.
Gothic houses of Parliament, and the splendid
medieval Matthias Church. Budapest consists of
two cities, separated only by the Danube River.
Buda, the hilly romantic city, and Pest, its modern
counterpart. They compose one of Eastern Europe's
most beautiful and vivacious cities. Connected
by seven bridges, Budapest is the largest city
and the capital of Hungary. Our panoramic sightseeing
tour will include such sites as Castle Hill.
Days 6-7 - Depart Budapest and
travel to Vienna, Austria. The regal city of Vienna
is situated on the Blue Danube in the center of
Europe. The Ringstrasse, a beautiful boulevard,
was built on the foundations of the city's ancient
fortified walls. Your panoramic sightseeing will
introduce you to such sites as the Parliament
building, Palace gate; the National Theater, Rathaus
- the city hall - the University, homes of the
nobility, beautiful parks and gardens, the famed
Schonnbrun Palace with its magical gardens, and
the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Vienna has been
the center of many arts; but it has been particularly
known for its musical tradition.
Day 8 - Continue your travels
in Austria with a visit to Salzburg. You will
enjoy your time in Salzburg, Austria, one of Europe's
grandest cities, and the birthplace of Mozart.
Salzburg's old world charm and natural beauty
will delight you. Some of the sights you might
enjoy are Mozart's Home* and Hohensalsburg Castle,
the celebrated 17th century cathedral where many
of the actual settings for the movie "The Sound
of Music" were filmed.
Day 9 - Depart Salzburg and
travel to Oberammergau, Germany. This picturesque
town in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps is
the stage for the world-famous Passion Play, performed
by over 1,200 residents of Oberammergau. The pageant
portrays the life and death of Jesus Christ and
is performed as a result of a vow that the villagers
made to God if they were spared destruction from
the Black Plague of 1632. The Passion Play attracts
thousands of tourists who see the play and enjoy
the local shops where the villagers earn their
living making Bavarian crafts and toys of wood.
Day 10 - Visit the castle at
Neuschwanstein built by the last great king of
Bavaria, Ludwig II. From Neuschwanstein, you will
travel on to Munich.
Day 11 - Awake in Munich, a city
steeped in history, offering diverse and interesting
sightseeing. Your city tour will include such
sights as the Old City, Glockenspiel Chimes and
the futuristic 1972 Olympic Village.
Day 12 - Depart Munich for the United States,
taking with you treasured memories of your incredible
journey.
